Gutter Clean Up's Gutter Cleaning FAQs

Got questions about the necessity of cleansing guttering, or the details of the gutter cleaning process itself? Here are some of our gutter cleaning FAQs, and some answers!

Q. What happens if I don't bother with professional gutter cleaning?

A. Going for a long period of time without expert gutter cleaning can lead to a build up of mould inside and outside your guttering, and a condensing of debris which can soon lead to blocked gutters. Blocked guttering can lead to siding damage, foundation damage caused by flooding, as well as flooded areas of your property, including roofs and basements. Other dangers include spalling (peeling or flaking) brickwork, and termite, mosquito and rodent infestations.

Q. How do you do it?

A. We use a specially designed Gutter Vac Clearance system which is fitted with both a 12m long extendible pole and a mounted camera. The camera means we can see your gutters from ground level, avoiding the need to climb up ladders. The only times when we'll need to actually get up to your gutters are for ivy removal and gutter repairs - in which cases we'll have consulted with you first. You'll be given before and after shots of your guttering via our system's camera so you can get a clear idea of exactly what we've done for you during your service.

Q. Is there any type of gutters that you don't clean?

A. The only pieces of guttering we can't clean are those where maintenance work is already taking place. Apart from that, you're good to go!

Q. I've noticed grass or other plants growing out of my guttering. Can you help me?

A. Absolutely. This is one of the few cases where we'll need to address the situation manually using ladders to safely remove the grass using special tools

Q. How messy are you?

A. Not at all! We'll carefully clear away, pack and dispose of the debris that's created by the process.

Q. What about parking? Do you need to be directly in front of my door?

A. Not directly, but the closer the better. The equipment that we use is exceedingly heavy!

Q. What about downpipes? Do they get addressed too?

A. Yes - all downpipes above ground level will be taken care of as part of your service.

Q. Do you train or insure your staff?

A. All of gutter cleaning staff are fully trained and insured.

Q. Roughly how many times a year should I get my gutters properly cleaned?

A. Most professionals and manufacturers recommend that at least twice a year is the minimum.

Q. What's the difference between gutter cleaning and gutter repairs? How do I know which one I need?

A. It sounds simple, but we understand your dilemma! You'll usually only need repairs when you see that your gutters are sagging or leaking, or constantly overflowing. If you're in any doubt at all, simply give us a call.

Q. How safe is it to leave guttering that looks like it needs repairs?

A. Simply ignoring the problem is very risky. Take especial care if you've already noticed leaks in your roof or basement space. Broken gutters can also lead to rotting wood, cracks in your foundation, insect and pest infestations, and driveway damage.

Q. Do you work in my area?

A. There's no part of London and Greater London that we don't cover, and we can often cover other areas too.
